Maximising your Website SEO & streamlining your socials content!
If I had a dollar for every time I heard, I just need a website to look legit….. I wouldn’t be designing websites anymore! But the truth is, after a while, your website will begin to work for you with a little bit of time and attention.
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is not a hard task, but it can be complicated if you do not approach it with some strategy. Getting seen online is an important part of business, you want to come up in the first few pages of searching, you want to be put in front of your ideal clients.
Truth is, you can harness the power of social media to get people to your website, and aside form SEO it is something that should form a part of your overall marketing plan.
“Having a business website and not managing and updating it while you spend all of your time creating on social media is like painting the walls on someone else’s house”
SEO is a long game. Don’t be fooled, small amounts consistently will always trump large amounts of intensity and then ghosting, but you can get results with 1-2 hours a month of targeted SEO strategy.
Do not expect results overnight! And anyone that promises that, is not in it for the long game! Things you do now for your search engine optimisation are investments in the long term sustainability, growth and continuance of your business.
SEO is making sure your website comes up on search, all of what I talk about today is referring to organic growth and visibility. Be aware some marketing providers are dropping SEO, believing you can achieve better results and ROI (return on investment) from using Social Media as opposed to technical and keyword based SEO.
It comes down to your mindset towards your business, is it a hobby or are you in it for long term sustainable growth?
So, how can you utilise Social Media to improve your brand visibility?
Create with intent and purpose.
Have some strategy.
Have a long term plan of offerings and goals and then backwards map content.
Create long form content that can then be broken down into smaller chunks for social media and use that content to drive traffic to your website.
Make sure your website has something to offer people that visit.
This will always bring up the old thoughts and habits , “but its not in the moment”, “I cannot plan like that”, “I don’t work best this way”, “but then things alway change and what I had prepared is no longer relevant!”
Have you said those things above?
Yeah, me too!
So, here is the solution ;
START SMALL!
Maybe start with an audit of your website. No need for it to be time consuming - SEMRUSH or Ubersuggest will run an audit on your website and provide feedback. THIS IS THE BEST thing you can do for your business!
Then once you know exactly where you are at - I highly recommend signing up for an Ubersuggest account! SEMRUSH is a bit more technical, where as Ubersuggest I have found to be much more beginner friendly. (I use a mixture of a few auditing tools GA4, Google Business, SEMRUSH & Ubersuggest and Website in built analytics).
Ubersuggest FREE account will give you the nudges you need to manage and improve your websites performance, visibility and will even guide you in some onsite technical issues.
All of my ongoing SEO clients websites are linked to Ubersuggest for content and SEO management.
Get to know SEO, understand your website - do not let a paid for asset sit there and do nothing, like I have said little bits often - add up over time, it is an investment that will pay off.
Think of creating larger, longer form content, it could be starting a blog, video, creating a course or some digital downloads (go with something that feels right and authentic for you).
From that creation process, take those larger content pieces and chunk them into smaller posts, reels or videos - have a plan and a strategy around this.
How, who, where, when, why - know who your audience is and where which pieces of content will best serve you.
(ps no one ever REALLY knows this in the beginning - all marketing is basically really informed guesses - seeing what does well and allowing that to INFORM your next go).
Use those smaller chunked pieces of content to send people to your website, via links, sign ups etc.
Now when they get to your website, there are things to look at, read and watch! Time spent on those pages aids your SEO efforts and increases your brands visibility!
(and your content is mostly planned and scheduled for a month)
Take the pressure off and have fun!
